Update on Grant the pirate puppy puppet

His body is done. His neck goes through the body and out the bottom.
This is a picture of my son with who he calls Grantamus.
I love Grant's expression in this pic.

Here they are sitting together.

Next step paws and feet.

Grant's head is done

Grant's head is finished. I sewed half sphere black buttons for his eyes.  I am a little partal but I think he is adorable.

Update on Grant Puppet

The fleece is now on. This is his profile: Left Side
Right Side

Trying on various noses.

I ended up cutting a round piece of foam and gluing it to a smaller round piece of rubber gasket to make his nose.  Then I covered it with the black fleece. This is him next to his counterpart.
The ears are now sewed on. Next step is his eyes.

Crazy hat night...with some puppet influences.

I made this hat for my son for Crazy Hat Night at our church.
He told me what he wanted and I built it for him.

My son's first styrofoam creation

I was working on a recent project, and I noticed my son was getting pieces of the styro that I threw into the discard pile. He came out of his room and had this.
"Daddy it is one of those really tall birds..."
 "A crane?"
"Yeah that's it."

Update on Grant the Pirate Puppy Puppet

Update on Grant the Pirate Puppy Puppet (try and say that 5 times fast)

I reglued the top mouthplate up higher into the jaw so he has an upper lip.
It also lets the smaller bottom jaw fit inside when the mouth is closed.

I cut the tip of the face off so the nose will lay flat.

Then I started on the felt. I used the foam pattern and added a half an inch all the way around. Then I cut out the felt and pinned it on the foam.

It barely fit.

The neck didn't fit at all.
I had to trim a few spots to make it lay flat.

Stay tuned for more.
